Be a walker with us in Sewell NJ on 10/18!
When The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk funds treatments that save lives, it’s all due to people like you. Without your efforts LLS could not provide these lifesaving treatments. LLS really is making cures happen with your help.
Friends, families and co-workers form fundraising teams and millions of consumers help by donating at retail outlets. These efforts culminate in inspirational, memorable evening walks in over two hundred communities each fall across North America.
Please join our team’s effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives today. Be sure to check our team Web site frequently to see our progress, and thanks for your support!
The South Jersey Humanists are participating in this weekend’s AIDS Walk on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.

Thanks to Lindy and Paula for planning crafts and activities for kids at the ACUA Earth Day festival yesterday! And thanks to everyone who arrived at a godawful hour to set up the tent and table in the chilly wind. We got lots of kids making magnets, and had some good conversations about Humanism.
Great news! Humanist author Laury A. Egan is going to come talk with us after our January Meetup. She’ll be coming to the UU Center at 12:30 where she’ll do a book reading and chat with us.
Perfect kickoff for our book club, don’t you think?

THE OUTCAST ORACLE
by LAURY A. EGAN
“Simply delicious fun from start to finish.”
“A beautifully written novel.”—Kirkus Review (***starred review)
Set in 1959, near New York’s Lake Ontario, Charlene Whitestone has been deserted by her parents and left in the custody of her grandfather C.B. Although he loves Charlie, C.B. is a charming con artist, moonshiner, and religious fraud who inducts her into his various enterprises. Written in a satiric Mark Twain style, The Outcast Oracle is a great read for adults and teenagers.
Available from Humanist Press and online retailers in eBook and paperback editions.
( Late teens through adult.)
Laury A. Egan is the author of The Outcast Oracle and the collection, Fog and Other Stories, both published by Humanist Press in 2013, as well as the psychological suspense novel, Jenny Kidd (Vagabondage Press). Two volumes of poetry, Snow, Shadows, a Stranger and Beneath the Lion’s Paw as well as a chapbook, The Sea & Beyond, were issued by FootHills Publishing.
Next Meetup: Jan 24th at 10:30am.
Note the new location: the UU Center in Pomona across from Stockton College. Details at Meetup.com below:
